I recently had the opportunity to stay at Pension Zur Krone while in Germany, drawn by its charming facade and the promise of culinary delights. My experience was a mixed bag. The country-style restaurant exuded a welcoming ambiance, but the breakfast did not mirror the enticing photos. I found the offerings to be rather minimal, lacking the vibrant selection one might hope for. With my Irish sensibilities and appreciation for hearty fare, I was left wanting. Aiming to explore the dinner menu, I encountered a perplexing situation-there was no proper menu in sight. This led to a surprise soup and an unexpectedly steep bill for a meal that, from my travels, should have been more reasonable. The prices were reminiscent of upscale establishments in major cities, presenting a juxtaposition to the overall humble setting of the property. While the staff did their best, communication proved to be a challenge. A gentle reminder: clarity in pricing and menu options is essential. Lessons learned-always inquire beforehand. A quaint place, but the culinary experience fell short of expectations.
